Description

Pristine Seas Protection Project is a National Geographic project, led by Explorer in Residence Enri Sala. Spending weeks at sea, diving thousands of hours, and seeking out some of the least explored and understood places in the ocean, Sala and a team of determined scientists and filmmakers work to inspire the creation of protected areas for the protection of marine life. Over the last twelve years, Pristine Seas has carried out expeditions in 31 places, 23 of which have since been protected, covering a total area of more than 6 million square kilometres — more than twice the size of India. Finalist in the Revive our Oceans category of the 2021 Earthshot award.
