Italian Society of Marine Biology

The stated aim of SIBM is 'to carry out activities in the field of protection and enhancement of nature and the environment, promoting studies relating to the life of the sea, promoting contacts between researchers and disseminating theoretical and practical knowledge deriving from modern progress.' As a professional society, the main activities of the SIBM include the organization of congresses, seminars, round tables, monographic courses and the care of publications, in particular the Newsletter and the journal Biologia Marina Mediterranean.
