Description

The Mead Foundation is a family foundation which focuses on environmental issues in the Philippines. They are involved in a significant coral restoration project with the target of restoring 500 acres of coral reef by 2024 in the Zambales area in north easter Philippines. In this, they are partnering with the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, with the Australian government also contributing funds. They are also developing the Pawikan Project which is a grassroots sea turtle conservation project in the Zambales area, one of the Philippines’ primary pawikan (local term for sea turtles) nesting areas. This project focuses on engaging both local communities and tourists, raising awareness on sea turtle conservation, and educating about environmental stewardship.
