Description

STINAPA Bonaire is a non-governmental, not for profit foundation commissioned by the island government to manage the two protected areas of Bonaire: the Bonaire National Marine Park (BNMP) and the Washington Slagbaai National Park (WSNP). The organization is dedicated to the conservation of Bonaire ’s natural and historical heritage through the sustainable use of its resources. Bonaire has a long history of marine conservation, going way back to the early 1960', In 1970 Bonaire Marine Park was declared, which was before many (most?) countries were attuned to marine conservation, let alone marine protected areas. The results are self evident.
