Description

With a mission to inspire learning and conservation ethics through outreach programs, hands on participation and research, ECOMAR is a conservation organization in Belize with multiple engagements in conservation, including their St. George's Caye Research Station & Field School with supports archaeological and marine research. They also have a Turtle Watch Program which studies sea turtle populations, and are engaged in the Belize Coral Reef Watch Program (part of the Meso-American Coral Reef Watch Program and is an “Early Warning Alert System” for coral bleaching. There is also the Lionfish Project where ECOMAR, the Belize Fisheries Department and other partners work with stakeholders in Belize to manage the invasive lionfish.
