In Conservation
New category just added! Divers and Conservation Inspired by Livingseas Asia (https://www.livingseas.asia/) who have a really interesting coral restoration project in Bali, we have created a new category wholly devoted to dive operators and diving-related organisations which encourage and enable scuba divers becoming involved in marine conservation. This is a subject dear to many divers’ hearts. Getting involved is becoming a real option, with the opportunities offered by dive operators such as Livingseas.asia and Buddy Dive in Bonaire who partner with Reef Restoration Bonaire. Take the example of coral reefs. Thanks to courses such as PADI’s Coral Reef Restoration certification, amongst others, which train divers to work on coral nurseries, and organisations such as PADI and Conservationdiver which train the trainers, (and of course the colleges and universities out there educating the marine biology graduates who are the life-blood of the marine conservation movement), scuba divers with an interest in conservation can easily become involved. Engagement in marine conservation has become a real opportunity. It is hugely rewarding, that I can vouch for after completing the Coral Reef Restoration certification course a couple of years ago. Still in its infancy, this category will no doubt expand as we come across diving operators who are doing their utmost to protect marine life. Let us know if you are part of this cause, so we can include you in the database. Brain coral nursery on Bonaire
