Swim Against Plastic is a global campaign and concept, created by Plastic Oceans International. It is designed to raise awareness and knowledge about plastic pollution. This is achieved via record-breaking swims, beach cleanups and youth education. The aim is to empower people to become involved in solving the global epidemic that is polluting our oceans and other waterways, killing wildlife, and impacting on the human food chain. The first Swim took place in March of 2019, on Chile’s Easter Island, where South African Sarah Ferguson became the first person ever to swim around this iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site.
