Together for the Med

Together for the Med was established to reduce fishing pressure in the Mediterranean, with the support of the MAVA Foundation. A group of some 46 NGOs, International Organisations, research centres, private companies, networks and foundations, they are all committed to reducing the pressures on Mediterranean biodiversity. They work together to bring fisheries sustainability, reduce their impact on seagrass meadows and coralligenous habitats, reduce the accidental bycatch of cetaceans, seabirds, sea turtles and sharks, or reduce the negative interactions between fishers and marine mammals. This includes collecting data, raising awareness, improving national and international legal frameworks and developing practical solutions to reduce the pressures of fishing.
