Description

Planet Indonesia works to conserve at-risk ecosystems through village-led partnerships, thereby empowering rural communities who live in the world's most biologically diverse ecosystems. They aim to reduce inequalities in rural communities, while promoting conservation and sustainable resource management. The marine component addresses coastal and marine management, working with communities to create new fisheries management systems through temporary mangrove reserves and Locally Managed Marine Areas (LMMAs). They help restore coastal fisheries that are the lifeline of communities. Their model helps reduce deforestation in mangrove forests, and helps strengthen local food security.
